Neobouoir - The Future of Boudoir Photography
What is Neoboudoir?
I've found many women want something beyond traditional boudoir photography. They find it to be a little formulaic with one eye on a clock; put on the lingerie, some implied nude, soft focus, sultry or mildly erotic expression and pose. What seems to be missing is a deeper need for creative expression and ability to act out deep fantasies, feelings and emotions. And to create an image that goes beyond mere sensuality.
Neoboudoir is a new artistic style which attempts to expand beyond traditional boudoir photography and adds elements from other styles including Editorial Fashion, Classical Boudoir, Nude, Glamour, Pin Up, Anime, Art Deco, Fantasy Art, Mythology, Symbolism, Fetish, Surrealism, Classic Tales and others and follows evolving cultural trends. It can involve outdoor settings and edgy unconventional outfits. Highly artistic and creative souls seem to be drawn to this collaborative creative artform. It can range from the innocence of Alice in Wonderland to a darker grittier Anime Pin Up style.
About
Photographer Mark Slater is based in Redondo Beach, California. Over the decades he has shot in many photographic styles ranging from Fashion Editorial, Runway and Fitness
to Fantasy, Boudoir and Fine Art.
His goal is to create images that go beyond just pretty pictures. He wants the viewer to actually think and feel something and keep coming back.
Even beyond that he's fascinated by how many photoshoots have become both a cathartic/therapeutic experience and an all consuming flow experience for those involved. Ideally
it becomes the ultimate in creative collaboration.
He has been told many times that both his style and approach to photography is unique and edgy. Currently he is interested in trying to collaboratively define this new Neo-Boudoir
style that has the goals of traditional boudoir but is more daring, experimental and modern in it's approach and ideals.
